The Wokefield ChallengeAt GRA, our ethos is to design business scenarios that are relevant to the specific needs and expectations of the client. The 'Wokefield Challenge' is an informative and highly participative style event, involving individual and group activities. Our aim is to focus on providing practical skills and knowledge to the delegates, and involve a whole day based in the outdoors, using a business-based scenario to accelerate learning and development. The scenario is likely to require an element of planning to assess skills, strengths and weaknesses within the group. In addition the group will need to produce a business plan showing projected earnings and outgoings and their intended itinerary for the major exercise. This plan is submitted to the GRA tutors prior to the start of the outdoor exercise. We would stress that the focus is usually on the delegates achieving the objective as a single team. The team decides the most appropriate sub-groups of people to achieve the activities - groups that are highly likely to change throughout the day. All scenarios assume no physical fitness on the part of the delegates and there is a wide range of physical and non-physical activities available. Delegates have complete choice as to which tasks they decide to participate in. All tasks clearly identify the extent to which there is a physical requirement at the outset. Each activity attempted will be reviewed with the tutors. Earnings will be awarded by the group on the basis of: a) successful achievement of the task and b) the group process involved. At the end of the exercise there will be a full review of the entire programme looking at what was done well, not so well, and learning points to take back to the workplace. |
